Topic:
This year’s meeting allows expert exploration of contemporary challenges,
controversies and issues related to the practice of revision knee arthroplasty.
These challenges are presented in a familiar and relevant clinical context.
Key, broad ranging topics are comprehensively addressed in a didactic
fashion, complemented by live surgery and operative video of selected specialist
techniques.
Challenging cases are discussed, highlighting areas of difficulty or
potential uncertainty, allowing the audience and faculty to work together to
determine the optimum method and details of treatment of the individual
patient. Differences of philosophy, economy, local and national issues, and
patient selection are also discussed, and best practice defined by reaching
a consensus opinion.
The meeting progresses from revisiting some basic principles and foundation
knowledge, to addressing the specific challenges of the patient with
a failed revision arthroplasty. What are the real and
everyday problems, and what are their preferred solutions in 2009?
Hot Topics are:
- Access surgery for the heavily scarred knee, osteotomy, and explantation
- Choosing the right implant for the right patient
- Pre-operative planning and peri-operative care
- Management of massive bone loss and ligament incompetence
- Periprostheticinfection and fracture
- Patella reconstruction and extensor mechanism failure
- Prevention of failure and more!
After September 23rd 2009 the recorded sessions will be available here.
